Once your golf winds down and your guests are having something to eat, you can almost relax. It is important to finish off your day as strong as you started. There several items that need to be completed. The scoring is the first. Make sure your facility has a place for the scores from the day to be posted for all to see. Many friends will like to see how others have done. Typically the golf facility will provide a location and someone to post the scores. Make sure you have this decided on before your event. Include a recap of the winners, of both the event and the special contests. The scoreboard or score sheets should be large, legible and easy to read.
Soon after the meal has started you want to start your awards announcements. As we mentioned earlier, find a great speaker. At these awards make sure everyone is aware of the winners, and make them feel special. Also, be sure to acknowledge everyone for his or her contributions during your event. This should include the players, the sponsors, the committee chairpeople, and the committee people. All of these were contributors to the success of your event, make sure the feel that way.
After your event has concluded and you have had a time to recover form the day it is important to have your committee chairmen reconvene for one last meeting. This should be the time when you all think back through the event and make notes on successes and failures so you can work on those for the next time. This should include a plan to send thank you notes to all sponsors. Evaluations on committees, and volunteers, and an evaluation of the golf facility you chose. Your event can always improve if you take the time to think through every detail of your event. This is also a great time to provide a tentative plan for next year, that way you have everyone thinking ahead.
Lastly, you will want to make sure you have all of your financials in place. Bills paid, evaluation against the budget, prizes and auction items resolved if any are outstanding.
Hopefully you have found these ideas and thoughts useful to you in planning your event. Keep in mind the goals you started with, raise money for a good cause or charity, get people connected together in golf for a day, have fun. If you plan this as a business, and treat it that way your event will be a success. However, while you run it as a business, your guests want to have fun. If you can find and keep that balance you event will be a large success for many years to come, as well as raise many dollars for charity.
