Sponsorship & Hosting

Sponsorship opportunities can go well beyond the typical event sponsorship, and tee sponsors. Often times the can include many of the following and all are potential revenue steams to raise additional funds.

  • Title or Event Sponsor
  • Tee or Hole sign sponsorship (Think about using more than one per hole or splitting between several smaller sponsors
  • Pin Flags and Putting Green flags ( see our Custom Flagsticks on our site to see how these can work)
  • Golf ball sponsors with their company logo on the golf balls
  • Tee prizes with their company logo, shirts, towels, caps are great gifts
  • Beverage sponsors
  • Food sponsors (local restaurants are great sources, Outback Steakhouse or In and Out Burger, can come to the event

The next step is deciding on a golf facility to host the event. There are 3 types of golf course, all can be great locations but all have some uniqueness to keep in mind. The 3 types of golf facilities are Resort, Public, and Private. Resort courses generally are accompanied by large hotels and have limitation on types of events they can host as they have Resort guests who are expecting to play the golf course at all times during there resort stay. Public courses make great sites for golf events. They are looking for this type of play, do not have resort guests or members to keep happy, and often have more room to negotiate price.

Private facilities often have great food and beverage options but usually limited on what days they can host “outside” events. Usually the only day they can host an event is on Monday. However, they tend to be more flexible if you have a member of that Private Club as part of your committee or is a participant. Also, a member of a club may be willing to sponsor your event and help lower the price you have to pay for use of the facility or pick up part of the cost for you as a donation.

As part of your decision on where you will have your event keep in mind the following things, location, date, time, cost, course reputation and quality. The location where you play is important because you do not want it to far from where most of your guest will come from. Early in the week or late in the week are the best times to hold your event. Monday is a great day to use a Private facility and Either Monday or Friday can be combined into a long weekend. As well these days are much easier for people to break free from work, or ask for the time off in order to play. Almost all 18 hole golf events are going to take 5-5 ½ hours to complete play. Plan on the appropriate amount of time for the event, make sure everyone that is involved is aware and your event will go a lot smoother. The format in which you play will effect the amount of time your event takes, later on we will compare those types of events and they time they require. It is important to consider the cost of the location you are choosing. The rates will vary based on time of year, time of day, and how many people are in your event. These costs are negotiable so ask how and when you can save money. The quality of the location will have a big impact on the cost. Keep in mind that you are not just looking for the least expensive location. Part of your success will be based on the course you choose and the condition of the course. This is a big part of what people will remember from that day.
